Turkey and Syria Earthquake Appeal

from £0.00

Monday 6th of February at 4am local time, a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck wide swathes of Turkey and neighbouring Syria.

The quake, which centred on Turkey's southeastern province of Kahramanmaras, has left at least 2,300 people dead and injured thousands more.

Fatalities

More than 2,300 people have been confirmed dead in Syria and Turkey.

Some 1,541 of these are in Turkey, according to the latest figures from the country's disaster agency.

Around 430 deaths have been recorded in government-controlled parts of Syria, and a further 390 in opposition-helf areas.

Some experts have estimated the death toll could reach 10,000 or more, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he could not predict how much it would rise.

Destroyed buildings

Almost 3,000 buildings have collapsed in Turkey alone, according to Mr Erdogan.

Destroyed buildings were reported in a wide area spanning from the Syrian cities of Aleppo and Hama to Turkey's Diyarbakir, more than 330km to the northeast.

This is an urgent appeal to everyone. Donate now and help the people of Syria and Turkey NOW.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and the Hereafter.”
